About the Opportunity An exceptional opportunity is available for a suitably qualified senior lawyer to join a highly regarded, complex and values-driven organisation with a strong reputation for excellence, innovation and community impact.

Reporting to the Director of Legal and working within an established and collegiate in-house legal team, the Senior Legal Counsel will provide trusted legal advice to senior leaders and stakeholders across a wide range of complex matters. Working alongside another Senior Legal Counsel, a Legal Counsel, and legal support staff, the role places a particular emphasis on drafting, reviewing and negotiating general commercial and IT-related agreements, including procurement, software licensing and technology services contracts.

Key Responsibilities In this varied and hands-on role, you will:

Provide practical, risk-based legal advice on complex commercial and operational matters

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts and agreements

Advise on procurement, IT, property transactions and consultancy agreements

Manage and advise on disputes, claims and insurance matters

Support senior leaders on regulatory compliance, risk and governance issues

Instruct and manage external counsel where required

Contribute to continuous improvement and best-practice legal service delivery

Build strong, trusted relationships across the organisation

About You We welcome applications from those who bring:

Legal qualifications, i.e., those admitted as legal practitioners in Queensland (or immediately eligible to practise in QLD), with the experience, judgement and technical capability to operate at Senior Legal Counsel level

A strong background in commercial contracting and advisory work, including IT and technology focused commercial matters

An ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused advice

Excellent drafting skills with a plain-English approach

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills

An ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

A mature, collaborative and down-to-earth approach with a willingness to pitch in as required

Initiative, sound judgement and a sense of humour
