Electrical Maintenance Superintendent | Greenfield Mine Development | FIFO Expat Role
About the Opportunity
Opportunity knocks for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Superintendent to work on a landmark APAC 'mega project', and at the greenfield stage. Offering the rare opportunity to be involved prior to production you will be the technical custodian of the site's electrical assets. The primary objective is to maximize the reliability and uptime of the Electric Mining Fleet and supporting infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring that maintenance is not merely reactive, but governed by technical integrity, statutory compliance, and data‑driven optimization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
We are particularly interested to hear from experienced Electrical Maintenance Superintendents with experience in from large‑scale greenfield mining developments and operations that meet the following criteria:
Project & Engineering Governance
Direct the strategic execution of HV, MV, and LV infrastructure projects across mining, camp, and administrative areas, ensuring designs prioritize long‑term maintainability and grid resilience
Direct the end‑to‑end engineering of utility corridors and substations, encompassing the validation of technical reports, load calculations, and drawings to ensure infrastructure meets site‑specific fault levels and load growth
Act as the lead electrical interface on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring technical quality, cost‑effectiveness, and KPI compliance from procurement through to commissioning
Technical Safety & Statutory Authority
Serve as the final technical authority for site electrical safety (RDMC/OH&S), specifically validating protection settings, earthing integrity, and arc flash boundaries to prevent equipment failure and personnel exposure
Define and audit the site electrical licensing and competency matrix, ensuring 100% statutory compliance and legal authorization for all personnel.
Oversee comprehensive power system modeling, lightning protection, and earthing studies to safeguard physical assets against catastrophic failure
Operational Reliability & Asset Management
Systematize Electrical Asset Integrity by owning the master asset register and auditing maintenance schedules to ensure 100% compliance with statutory and OEM requirements.
Lead electrical downtime reconciliation, using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring failure modes in coordination with the reliability team
Direct technical commissioning and quality assurance (QA) for HV/LV assets, verifying that all testing results and insulation resistance meet OEM specifications before energization
Commercial & Stakeholder Management
Optimize the Komatsu partnership by leveraging technical KPIs and Service Level Agreements to maximize fleet availability and reduce Total Cost of Ownership
Direct electrical CAPEX/OPEX expenditure by aligning maintenance priorities with operational risk, converting technical complexities into clear financial justifications for executive decision‑making
Qualifications and Experience
Significant international experience in expatriate mining environments, with a proven track record in Superintendent or senior leadership positions
Focused on
Ultra‑class Electric Mining Fleets
(e.g., Komatsu 830E/930E/980E) and high‑capacity mobile electrical distribution
Extensive experience directing electrical scopes during procurement, construction, and commissioning of large‑scale mining infrastructure
Demonstrated experience with thermal power plants, renewable energy integration, and remote micro‑grid management.
Deep understanding of
IEC standards
and the ability to rapidly adapt to local codes
Proven experience managing Tier‑1 OEMs (Komatsu, Siemens, ABB, Schneider) and negotiating with power authorities
Skills and Capabilities
Capability to serve as the
Appointed Person for Electrical Compliance , taking legal and technical responsibility for site systems
Advanced proficiency in HV/MV/LV system design, including protection coordination, earthing/lightning studies, and
Arc Flash Hazard Mitigation
Ability to validate engineering calculations, utility corridor layouts, and substation design briefs to ensure operational scalability
Proficiency in electrical modeling software,
SAP , and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure QA/HSE compliance across complex, high‑pressure mining operations
Expert‑level ability to mentor national personnel in complex troubleshooting and electrical distribution logic
Capability to manage multi‑million dollar CAPEX/OPEX budgets and translate technical risks into business intelligence
