Job Description

Cardiology at Northampton General Hospital has seen exponential growth over the last 5 years. We are therefore looking for an intuitive 7 Echo Physiologist to join our young and dynamic team. The position is also offered with a recruitment and retention bonus in line with the UHN.

There are exciting opportunities here for the right candidate and we would love to hear from those who have their BSE accreditation and are looking for the next step in their career.

We have all the facilities of a tertiary-equivalent Centre, including a modern digital echo lab performing the full range of complex scans including DSE and TOE, regular paediatric clinics.

We are proud to also be part of Satellite clinics for the community Diagnostic Hubs so there will be an expectation to rotate round these clinics.

We are very proud of our Physiologist-led stress echo and contrast / bubble service.. We also see large numbers of Paediatric and ACHD patients.

Main duties of the job Main duties will involve performing routine and urgent scans in and in-patient and out-patient setting, including working in the new CDC hubs.

Dependent on experience you will also be performing DSE, TOE and paediatric Scans.

We are looking to expand the services to include Physiologist led Valve clinics, TOE clinics and DSE clinics

We offer Echo's in community hubs so there is the expectation to work outside of the trust occasionally.

Person Specification Training and experience

Educated to BSc Hons degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent.

RCCP Registration

BSE Accreditation

Knowledge and Experience

Previous practical experience in a broad range of basic and advanced Cardiac investigations.

At least 2 years post graduate experience in Echo

Experience in DSE and complex Echo

Staff management and team working skills

Previous experience in the NHS

Skills

sound knowledge of invasive and non-invasive cardiology and able to demonstrate competence in performing a range of techniques

Able to perform and report unsupervised on a range of electrocardiographic investigations

Able to organise own workload and that of other staff within specialised area
