Head of Legal

You will be the legal lead inside a fast growth Australian health technology company. You will work directly with the CEO. You will guide the business through product growth, commercial deals, and regulation while keeping decisions practical and grounded. The platform sits across care marketplace activity, plan and budget management, payments workflows, and AI driven tools that support participants, families, and providers.

What you will own

Provide clear, commercial legal advice to leadership, product, engineering, finance, and operations

Translate legal and regulatory risk into simple options the business can act on

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts across partners, providers, customers, and vendors

Build templates and playbooks that speed up deal cycles

Lead legal input into new products, AI features, partnerships, and market expansion

Identify risk across product, payments, and operations, then design practical mitigation strategies

Maintain governance policies, controls, and compliance frameworks

Support audits, regulator engagement, and reporting

Advise on privacy, data governance, and consumer law

Guide the business through evolving AI and technology regulation

Support board matters, corporate structuring, fundraising, and investor due diligence

Manage external legal counsel and specialist advisors

Educate teams on legal basics and risk awareness so they can move faster with confidence

What you bring

Qualified lawyer with a current Australian practising certificate

Eight plus years post qualification experience in private practice or in house

Experience in a high growth technology, fintech, marketplace, or health tech business

Strong background in commercial contracts and complex negotiations

Experience in regulated environments where product and compliance intersect

Knowledge of privacy, data protection, and consumer law

Exposure to payments, financial services, or platform business models

Experience building legal processes and structure in scaling companies

Confidence working with senior leaders and boards

Nice to have

Experience with disability, aged care, or broader health regulation

Exposure to AI governance or emerging technology regulation

Experience supporting capital raises, investor processes, or M&A

You are pragmatic and commercially minded. You explain complex issues in plain language. You balance risk with progress. You like being embedded in the business, not sitting on the sidelines.
