LGBTI Legal Service is a statewide specialist community legal service established by and for the LGBTIQA+ community in Queensland. The Service operates a ‘no wrong door’ approach, in recognition of the significant gaps in culturally safe and inclusive legal services for LGBTIQA+ people. We have been providing legal advice and representation since 2009 in a wide range of legal areas including family law, domestic and family violence, criminal law, victim support, employment law and government decisions, discrimination and human rights issues. We undertake strategic litigation on critical issues such as discrimination, human rights, and gender affirming care. We also deliver community legal education and undertake law reform initiatives. LGBTI Legal Service is seeking a passionate and dedicated Solicitor/Senior Solicitor to join our thriving small team in this new position. This is a permanent position (full time or part time). About the Solicitor / Senior Solicitor position

The Solicitor/Senior Solicitorprovideshigh qualityculturally safe and inclusivelegal advice and casework on specialist LGBTIQA+ legal issuesand contributes to law reform,advocacyand community legal education activities of LGBTI Legal Service. The Solicitor/Senior Solicitor reports to the Managing Solicitor, and will work closely with our small team of lawyers, paralegals and support staff. Your skills, knowledge, and experience

We will be selecting applicants based on their responses to the selection criteria below: Hold or be eligible to hold a Queensland Practising Certificate. Awareness of the legal and social justice issues facing LGBTIQA+ communities and a commitment to equal access to justice. Ability to provide high quality,timely,holisticandappropriate legalinformation, advice, caseworkservicesand representation in one or more of the following practice areas: family, DFV, human rights/discrimination and/or employment law. Knowledge of, or ability to rapidlyacquireknowledge of, referral and information sources relevant to peopleseekinglegal and otherassistance. High levelof interpersonal communication skills including the ability to engage with a range of audiences and stakeholders internal and external with sensitivity. Proven ability to manage time, organise tasks, and work independently and in a team with minimal supervision to complete work and solve problems. Why work for us?

We are a unique statewide legal service with an office in Kurilpa (West End, Brisbane) with a number staff and volunteers working remotely in their local regional areas. This has enabled us to expand our in-person service delivery and outreach into regional areas across Queensland.
