About the Role
As part of our recent growth, we are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Traffic Control Manager to join our team on the Gold Coast.
The Traffic Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant and effective delivery of traffic control across roadworks, construction projects and/or events. This role provides leadership to traffic control teams, ensuring approved traffic arrangements are implemented correctly and in accordance with Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) requirements, relevant standards and workplace health and safety legislation.
You will coordinate day-to-day traffic control activities, conduct site inspections and compliance checks, and respond to changing site conditions or incidents to maintain safety for workers, road users and the community. The role requires strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to liaise with project teams, contractors, local authorities and emergency services.
The Traffic Manager plays a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, supporting and mentoring traffic control personnel, and ensuring all staff maintain current Queensland traffic control accreditation and competencies. Accurate documentation, reporting and continuous improvement are essential components of this position.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day traffic management across multiple sites, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient service delivery.
Coordinate weekly shift scheduling, with a strong focus on fatigue management and resource allocation.
Supervise and lead traffic control teams on-site as required, providing clear direction and leading by example.
Ensure compliance with Queensland legislation, permits, TMPs, TGS, SWMS, site requirements, TMR and MUTCD standards.
Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, driving continuous improvement.
Monitor and improve safety performance, promoting a strong safety-first culture across crews.
Lead training, inductions, mentoring and upskilling of traffic controllers and supervisors, ensuring current accreditation and competency.
Liaise closely with clients, Traffic Management Designers (TMD), TMR, councils and emergency services to achieve best operational outcomes.
Manage permit applications, fleet and traffic control equipment to support safe operations.
Provide guidance on safe work practices in line with company policies, legislation and industry standards.
Support injured workers and assist with return-to-work programs where required.
Maintain accurate documentation, reporting and records, including compliance, incidents and site activities.
Contribute to client retention, business growth and operational improvements through high-quality service delivery.
Your experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the traffic control or traffic management industry.
Hold a current Queensland White Card.
Hold a current QLD Traffic Control Licence (Industry Authority Card).
Hold a current QLD Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) Licence.
Current driver’s Licence, with the ability to drive manual vehicles.
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, leadership or training role.
Strong computer literacy, with the ability to confidently learn new systems and mobile applications.
Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external clients.
