About the Role This role sits within QIC’s

Risk Management Group (RMG)

and reports directly to the

Head of Workplace Health & Safety (RMG) , forming a key part of the team responsible for strengthening safety governance, risk maturity and operational excellence across QIC’s Real Estate portfolio. As the Senior Manager – Workplace Health & Safety (Real Estate), you will operate as a strategic and operational business partner to Property Management, Asset Management, Development, Leasing and centre operations, ensuring that WHS considerations are fully integrated into day to day activity as well as long term planning.

The position requires a seasoned WHS leader with deep experience in complex, public facing and high risk environments such as property, real estate and largescale retail assets. You will bring the capability to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of WHS management systems across a multisite portfolio, while ensuring contractor safety management and risk controls are executed to a high standard.

The role also requires strong judgement and the ability to manage WHS risks across high traffic environments, contractor heavy operations, development and tenancy delivery works, and mixed-use or retail settings.

Success in this role hinges on your ability to communicate with influence and credibility, including at executive and Board levels, supported by strong governance, reporting and analytical capability. You will play a key role in uplifting WHS capability across centres, leaders, contractors and operational teams, building confidence, consistency and a proactive safety culture.

Your Responsibilities

Lead and continually evolve the Real Estate WHS strategy

Design and uplift the Real Estate Safety Management System, aligned to enterprise frameworks.

Oversee WHS governance, compliance and legislative obligations across all Real Estate assets.

Business Partnering

Partner with Property Management, Asset Management, Development, Leasing and centre teams to embed WHS into operations, planning and capital works.

Provide balanced, commercially aware WHS advice to leaders and teams.

Lead contractor safety management across development, maintenance and tenancy delivery activity.

Identify, manage and mitigate WHS risks across complex public facing environments.

Maintain BU and site level WHS risk registers.

Oversee WHS incident investigations, closeout and trend analysis.

Prepare and present WHS reporting and insights for executives, committees and the Board.

Support internal/external audits and regulator engagement.

Capability & Culture

Coach and uplift WHS capability across centre teams and Real Estate operations.

Develop and deliver tailored WHS training programs.

Champion a proactive, consistent safety culture.

Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification in WHS, OHS or equivalent

Extensive knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, codes of practice and standards, and the ability to apply these within complex commercial environments.

Strong capability in incident investigation, auditing and regulatory engagement (ICAM or similar).

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and WHS specific management software.

Desired Criteria

Significant senior level WHS leadership experience within property, retail, real estate, largescale shopping centres or similarly complex, public facing or high-risk environments.

Demonstrated experience implementing and assuring WHS management systems and contractor safety frameworks across multisite or operationally complex portfolios.

Experience managing WHS risks across:

High traffic environments

Contractor heavy operations

Tenancy delivery and development works

Mixed use or retail assets

Strong capability in governance, risk management and WHS reporting, with the ability to communicate with influence at executive and Board levels.

Proven ability to uplift capability across centre teams, leaders, contractors and operational staff.

Motivated by opportunities to learn, influence and strengthen WHS maturity across a large, diverse portfolio.
