Job Description
Step into a pivotal leadership role where safety, wellbeing and social impact intersect. As Work Health & Safety Lead, you’ll architect and elevate a best-practice WHS framework, embed a proactive safety culture, and champion holistic physical and psychological wellbeing across diverse teams. Partnering closely with leaders, you’ll drive risk excellence, strengthen compliance, and influence meaningful organisational change within a purpose-led, inclusive environment.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership role for an experienced Work Health & Safety professional who wants to shape strategy, influence culture, and make meaningful impact. As Work Health & Safety Lead, you will design, embed and continuously enhance a best-practice WHS and wellbeing framework that supports both physical and psychological safety across a multi-site, values-led organisation.
You will partner closely with executive leaders and managers to strengthen risk capability, uplift compliance standards, and foster a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture aligned to a strong social purpose.
What You’ll Do
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive WHS management system across multiple sites and jurisdictions.
Drive a proactive safety culture by embedding risk management, early intervention, and wellbeing initiatives organisation-wide.
Provide expert advice to leaders on WHS legislation, injury management, workers’ compensation, and psychological safety.
Oversee incident investigations, audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting, identifying trends and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
Chair and facilitate WHS committee meetings, ensuring meaningful consultation and engagement at all levels.
Champion holistic wellbeing programs that support mental health, physical health, and safe systems of work.
Deliver engaging training and education sessions to uplift safety capability across the workforce.
Monitor data and reporting metrics to inform leadership decision-making and strengthen governance practices.
What You Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
Proven experience leading WHS frameworks within complex or multi-site environments.
Deep knowledge of contemporary WHS legislation across Australian jurisdictions.
Demonstrated expertise in injury management and workers’ compensation, with strong return-to-work outcomes.
Experience conducting workplace investigations, audits, and compliance reviews.
Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels.
Analytical capability to interpret data and translate insights into practical, measurable improvements.
A genuine commitment to fostering inclusive, psychologically safe workplaces.
What Sets This Organisation Apart
This is a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation committed to advancing equity, dignity, and social justice for women, girls, families, and communities.
The organisation embraces diversity and intersectionality, fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is valued. Employees benefit from flexible working arrangements (including part-time options), salary packaging, and ongoing professional development.
Here, safety and wellbeing are not compliance obligations—they are integral to delivering meaningful community impact.
