Head of Applications

The Role As a senior leader within the Digital & Technology Division, the Head of Applications acts as a strategic advisor and change leader fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the business. The role has end‑to‑end accountability for the strategy, planning, operations and lifecycle management of all business‑critical applications across the organisation. It ensures platforms are secure, scalable and aligned. The role leads a team of specialist product leads, technical experts and vendors responsible for the delivery, support, optimisation and continual improvement of applications.

What you bring to the role

Deep experience in Applications support and understanding of the business processes that they enable

Proven experience in managing an IT Applications Services or similar team, including a SaaS/Web‑based systems environment

Experience in managing package‑based application service providers

Experience in managing and enhancing applications in a cloud‑hosted platform

Leadership and stakeholder management skills

Experience in identifying and managing risks associated with the execution of complex IT‑enabled projects and programs

Strong analytical skills combined with highly developed communication skills

Familiarity with contemporary tools used to support the delivery of IT‑enabled Projects, Programs and Portfolios

Strong knowledge of the business processes of hospital environments, including workflow business drivers and requirements

Project and Program Management and Applications Delivery experience

Health industry experience essential to this role

Preferred

Experience with CI/CD methodologies and project management approaches for the enhancement of applications in a cloud‑hosted environment and the management of multi‑disciplinary teams

Experience in cloud‑based application architectures and the integration of cloud‑hosted applications
