The School of Nursing and Midwifery
is one of five Schools reporting directly to the
Deputy Vice‑Chairman (Academic and Research) . The School offers a diverse and comprehensive suite of programs, including the Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, and a range of postgraduate specialisations spanning Advanced Practice, Clinical Education, Gerontology, Rural and Remote Health, and Leadership and Management. These programs are central to UniSQ’s commitment to developing a highly skilled, adaptable and future‑ready nursing and midwifery workforce that meets the needs of communities and health systems.

is seeking an outstanding person to provide vision and leadership as
Head of School and Dean, Nursing and Midwifery . This role will have responsibility for advancing teaching and education scholarship, and innovation, the future development of research excellence, and evidence‑based practice with a strong connectivity to community and the health services.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will foster a collaborative and productive research environment through industry partnerships, health service collaborations, grants, publications, and research higher degree graduates. The role will work closely with the School’s academic team and health profession regulators to ensure curriculum is innovatively progressing nursing and midwifery practice, with a strong focus on student experience. The position can be based in either Ipswich or Toowoomba.
We are seeking an inspiring nursing and/or midwifery academic leader with a strategic vision for the future of nursing and midwifery education and research. Your excellent academic leadership skills should be coupled with a demonstrated track record of engagement with health services and communities and your ability to collaborate across the University.
Qualifications
Current Nursing registration and/or eligibility is essential.
