Job Description
If you’re a React Native engineer who enjoys building clean, high-performing mobile applications - and you have solid commercial experience working on live products - this one’s worth a look.
We’re partnering with a well-established, product-led technology business delivering a widely used platform across the education sector. Their mobile applications are central to the user experience, and they’re now looking to add a
Junior-Mid Mobile Engineer
to the team.
This is a Melbourne-based role (3 days onsite).
The Role
You’ll contribute to the design, development and ongoing improvement of mobile applications used daily by thousands of end users.
The work is varied and product-focused, spanning multiple modules and feature areas. This isn’t maintenance-only work - you’ll be involved in thoughtful technical design, problem-solving and performance optimisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and developing secure, scalable mobile applications using
React Native (TypeScript)
Building high-performance user experiences across iOS and Android
Writing clean, maintainable code with a strong focus on quality
Contributing to technical design discussions and sprint planning
Identifying performance improvements and enhancing app responsiveness and stability
Participating in code reviews, retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborating closely with product managers, designers and engineers to deliver strong user outcomes
This role suits someone who communicates clearly, works well with others, and takes initiative rather than waiting for direction.
What We’re Looking For
2–4 years’ commercial software development experience
Hands-on experience building mobile applications with React Native
Experience working with state management frameworks (Redux or similar)
Exposure to automated testing practices in a production environment
Understanding of performance optimisation and scalable mobile architecture
Experience contributing within a collaborative, cross-functional team
Equally important:
Clear and confident communication
A proactive mindset - someone who identifies issues and contributes solutions
Attention to detail and pride in the quality of what you ship
A genuine interest in continuous learning and improving development practices
The Environment
This is a product-focused team operating in a fast-paced environment. Engineers are expected to contribute thoughtfully, communicate clearly and take responsibility for the quality and performance of their work.
It’s a supportive space for someone early in their career who wants to grow properly - not just ship fast.
Diversity & Inclusion
We’re committed to building diverse, inclusive teams. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
