About this role
The Director of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing (PCW) is a senior executive role responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of pastoral care and wellbeing across all campuses of the College. Reporting to the Executive Principal, the role leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of whole-school pastoral care and wellbeing frameworks that support students, staff, and families, while ensuring consistent, ethical, and compliant practice aligned with the College’s values and child safety obligations.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Provide whole-school leadership by setting, embedding, and communicating a clear pastoral care and wellbeing vision, standards, and holistic framework across all campuses.
Contribute openly, constructively, and professionally as a member of the School Executive.
Advise executive leadership on pastoral care priorities, emerging risks, and strategic direction.
Ensure consistent, ethical, and professional pastoral care practices across all campuses.
Lead the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of pastoral care, wellbeing, and community-based programs informed by data and evidence-based practice.
Maintain oversight of pastoral care documentation, data collection, reporting, and follow-up to ensure accountability and quality assurance.
Collaborate with Campus Principals and Coordinators to embed wellbeing-focused approaches across all school programs and initiatives.
Organise and facilitate regular meetings with the PCW Advisor, PCW Coordinators, and Mentoring Program Coordinators.
Oversee and support Pastoral Care Coordinators in the effective delivery of campus-based programs.
Oversee and support the Mentoring Program Coordinator in mentor recruitment, selection, allocation, and professional development.
Support the development and implementation of a consistent staff wellbeing framework across campuses.
Oversee the teaching, modelling, and implementation of Values-Based Education and Restorative Practices.
Uphold and model the College’s values, traditions, and expectations in all aspects of pastoral care.
Oversee the operation of the College’s boarding facilities and support the Head of Boarding Houses as required.
Research and analyse student, family, and community needs, concerns, and emerging risks.
Oversee and manage PCW allotments in collaboration with Campus Principals and PCW Coordinators.
Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with community organisations and external agencies.
Ensure all pastoral care practices comply with child safety standards, legal obligations, and regulatory requirements.
Undertake other duties as determined by the Executive Principal.

Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Working With Children Check (Employee).
Strong leadership presence with the ability to set direction and maintain standards.
Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complexity, and make firm, principled decisions.

Current certification (or willingness to obtain) in:
First Aid and CPR
Anaphylaxis Management
Infection Prevention and Control
Mandatory Reporting
Food Safety and Handling
