About the Role
Due to continued growth, EDGE Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced
Senior Structural Engineer
to join our
Canberra (ACT)
office.
This role is ideal for:
A Senior Engineer who thrives in a blend of
technical leadership and people management , or
A highly experienced Structural Engineer ready to step into a
future leadership pathway
You will play a key role in delivering complex commercial projects while overseeing the residential engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Structural Engineer at EDGE, you will be responsible for:
Leading the successful delivery of complex commercial projects, including multi-storey commercial, mixed-use and residential developments
(e.g. The Markets Belconnen, Whitlam School)
Managing and mentoring the residential delivery team(3 Engineers + drafting support)
Coordinating with clients, architects, builders, and internal stakeholders
Managing technical design, documentation, and key project milestones
Preparing preliminary and detailed structural designs, reports, and sketches
Producing engineering calculations using first principles and industry software
Overseeing engineering documentation in accordance with Australian Standards
Liaising with drafting teams to resolve detailing and ensure timely delivery
Undertaking site inspections, preliminary site visits, and responding to construction queries
Contributing positively to team culture, morale, mentorship, and professional development
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
6+ years’ experience
in a structural engineering consultancy environment
Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
A high standard of technical accuracy and pride in your deliverables
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experienceAn ethos of continuous learning and professional growth
Highly regarded experience includes:
Structural design of
concrete, steel, masonry, and timber
Commercial, industrial, multi-storey, health, and education projects
Use of
RAPT/RAM, ETabs, SpaceGass
and similar analysis tools
Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and Codes
Location
This position is based in
Canberra (ACT) , supported by EDGE’s national office network and project portfolio. Relocation assistance can be provided for the right applicant.
