About the Project The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, is delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package. When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, known as TransitLinx. The Alliance will deliver a world‑class, driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety and reliability for Melbourne. SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world‑class public transport, reduce travel times and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

About the Role We are seeking a Senior Engineering Coordinator – MEP Control Systems to assist in managing the design delivery process by coordinating technical partner designs across multiple disciplines and ensuring the active engagement of construction personnel during design development. The role will act as a line of communication between site personnel and the design team to provide constructability inputs and manage RFIs and change requests. You will support the Engineering Manager and the broader Engineering and Design team in developing value‑for‑money design deliverables that satisfy client requirements and are safe and practical to build.

Responsibilities

Manage the development of the overarching MEP control configuration and integration strategy in consultation with key internal stakeholders.

Oversee and manage the design development of the MEP control system in line with the control strategy.

Liaise with the Alliance Delivery Team to engage with specialist suppliers to align viability of market‑available software and hardware with design.

Collaborate and interface, both internally and externally, with cross‑functional teams to align on the coordinated control strategy.

Participate in the full life‑cycle delivery of the control systems from design to commissioning.

Input to SiD process and temporary works design as required.

Coordinate with Design Package Leads to develop safe sustainable technical solutions and identify opportunities for improved sustainable outcomes.

Work in conjunction with the Design Manager in the development of design budgets and schedules.

Ensure reviews are completed by relevant members of the Construction and Testing & Commissioning Teams and comments are appropriately responded to by the Design Team.

Review development of technical solutions to identify opportunities for improvement with reduced construction cost and ensure appropriate consideration is given to budget constraints.

Periodic site presence during delivery to assist with confirmation of works in accordance with design documentation and intent.

Manage work and performance of subcontractors with design responsibility.

Work with Design Package Owners to address stakeholder comments and concerns and deliver required technical outcomes to meet the required programme.

Coordinate proof engineering reviews and facilitate close‑out of proof engineer comments.

Coordinate with Delivery to collate timely collection of inputs to the design (e.g., survey / site investigations).

About You To be successful in this role you will hold a tertiary Engineering qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics or Controls, along with Chartership with Engineers Australia or equivalent.

Significant post‑graduate experience in engineering‑based roles, ideally with rail experience.

Experience in the technical delivery of design and engineering solutions on large infrastructure projects.

Planning and budget management experience, demonstrating overall cost optimisation and best‑practice for project decisions.

Basic knowledge of contractual, legal, commercial and legislative compliance.

Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, a strong understanding of technical risk, and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders will enable you to succeed.
