Senior Project Engineer – Electrical
ACCIONA
is a global company leading in regenerative infrastructure. We are building the Central‑West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network with new high‑capacity lines and energy hubs. The project will be operational by 2028 and unlock up to 4.5 GW of new network capacity.
Overview
ACEROZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central‑West Orana REZ transmission network. The project consists of 90 km of 500 kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330 kV lines from Elong Elong to Barigan Creek via an energy hub at Merotherie.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership to subcontractors, monitor and control performance, and ensure quality standards in accordance with specifications.
Drive commitment to quality both top‑down and bottom‑up.
Ensure designated personnel are in place to integrate quality procedures.
Guarantee the completion of all outstanding defects as a priority.
Implement the project quality plan.
Offer support and advice on planning, design suitability, material selection, and construction practices to achieve value for money and best practice.
Manage operational aspects of project delivery, ensuring efficient use of systems and processes across all project phases.
Identify relevant authorities for approvals and manage inter‑authority relationships.
Maintain project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues.
Prepare project status reports and change orders.
Required Skills and Competencies
Experience constructing outdoor air‑insulated substations at 220 kV or above.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in large‑scale renewable energy and substation projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant tertiary education.
Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
Problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
Leadership experience and demonstrated leadership skills.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and HS&E standards.
Planning and scheduling competence.
Cost control awareness.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
High attention to detail.
Intermediate MS Office skills.
Location & Working Arrangement
The position starts in our project office in Sydney CBD with occasional site visits. Once operational, it will transition to a DIDO schedule: 14 days onsite in camp‑style accommodation and 7 days offsite, on a roster‑based arrangement in the Central West Orana Region.
