Proposed Rate & term - $155 per hour including Super | 12 month initial contract | 2x12 month extension options
Location & work arrangements - National - 2 days in office per week - office locations in all state capital cities in Australia.
Overview
The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and assuring end to end technology solutions that meet business, policy, and legislative requirements of the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.‑to‑end technology solutions that meet business, policy, and legislative requirements of the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

Key duties and responsibilities
Solution Architect SFIA level 5, to undertake tasks that include, but are not limited to, the following:
Deliver Architecture (designs), patterns, options and other associated artefacts for ServiceNow integration.
Assess the impact of operational system changes with implementing a design.
Define non-functional requirements, including security, capacity, performance, cross capacity and cross-release concerns.
Understand business requirements to develop complex engineering solutions across multiple platforms (on-premises and Cloud).
Assess immediate requirements to deliver initial scoping and costing artefacts for further discussions.
Effectively collaborate to address the concerns of all stakeholders, including the immediate team, enterprise architecture, and business, and deliver fit-for purpose, robust, solution.
Create solution vision, work with stakeholders to gather needs, and requirements.
Develop solution intent which captures and documents fixed and variable solution level behaviours.
Present and build support for proposed solutions with our business and senior IT stakeholders.
Work with other architects to develop top-down services functional view to deliver integrated solution.
Work with the project teams to develop solution design to realise solution architecture into delivery solution.
Lead discussions with Business and Technology stakeholders to develop and communicate the Solution Vision and Roadmap.
Interact with suppliers to ensure that requirements on their delivered capabilities are understood.
Other duties as required and advised by Director – Aged Care Architecture and Strategy.
Personnel may be redirected to assist or work on other projects/activities outside of the branch of initial assignment.
Selection criteria
Essential Criteria
Strong understanding of integration, data, application, and infrastructure architecture.
Familiarity with cloud‑based, hybrid, and platform‑centric architectures (e.g. SaaS, PaaS).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to balance architectural rigour with delivery pragmatism.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work across multiple initiatives and shifting priorities.
Desirable criteria
Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Architecture certifications (e.g. TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent)
Experience working within government or highly regulated environments
Demonstrated experience designing complex ICT solutions in large, federal environments.
