Reporting to the

Superintendent – Open Pit Mine Planning , the

Senior Mine Engineer – Short Term Planning

is responsible for preparing and updating short term mine plans that support daily, weekly and monthly mining activities. Working with Operations, Geology and Survey to ensure plans be safely and practically executed under current site conditions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly short term mine plans aligned with approved budgets and medium-term plans

Ensuring short term plans reflect equipment availability, geotechnical controls, and grade requirements

Adjusting short term mine plans to support daily mining activities and unplanned changes

Monitoring mine-to-plan performance and providing practical planning guidance to support daily production

Providing on-bench planning support to guide daily mining execution and resolve design or boundary issues during operations

Maintaining accurate planning models and data integrity using mine planning systems, including Deswik CAD and Scheduler

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent

Experience in open pit mine planning, with exposure to short term or operational planning with at least 5 years working experience

Practical experience using Deswik OPSTS (CAD and Scheduler)

Solid understanding of open pit mining methods, including drill, blast and haulage

Experience working closely with mining operations teams in a site-based environment

Clear and practical communication skills when engaging with frontline supervisors

A valid driver’s license

Experience working in wet or tropical operating conditions is an advantage
