About the Organisation The Mildura Base Public Hospital’s Mental Health Services offers a full range of specialist public mental health services, including inpatient and community-based services for people with mental illness in the Northern Mallee region, a population of approximately 80,000 people.

The service provides a complete psychiatry training program for 14 accredited and non-accredited registrars, supported by 9 supportive and engaging Consultant Psychiatrists readily available for supervision.

About the Role We are seeking applications from an adventurous Stage 3 Psychiatry Registrar to commence or continue as an Advanced Trainee in Addiction Psychiatry through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Advanced Training Certificate program. Dual-accredited Advanced Training in Consultation‑Liaison or General Adult Psychiatry would also be considered.

The 2 year position is available for commencement in February 2026, with ongoing employment options available.

The Addictions post offers inpatient, outpatient, and CL work, a pharmacotherapy clinic, and withdrawal support in a range of residential and non‑residential settings. The service also has a Hepatitis C micro‑elimination project across MBPH, a new outpatient regional pharmacotherapy service, and support for the development of a new 32‑bed state‑funded residential detox and rehab in Mildura.

This role is unique in offering:

Inpatient and outpatient clinic opportunities meeting all certificate requirements

Outpatient clinic experience in Aboriginal mental health with two Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs)

About You

Be an accredited Stage 3 Trainee in the RANZCP Fellowship Program by February 2026.

Be eligible for or accepted into an RANZCP Advanced Training Certificate program in Addiction Psychiatry.

Have General Registration as an Australian Medical Practitioner with AHPRA

Commitment to professional development, ideally with an interest in research, education and service development

Have an interest in gaining additional experience in rural and Aboriginal mental health

Base annual salary before allowances - range $148,668 to $177,580.

(Dependent on years of service, as per Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement)
