We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Civil to join our Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission project team.
Job Description
ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana REZ transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project. The project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity. The project comprises 90 km of 500 kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330 kV transmission lines, spanning from Elong Elong in the west to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie. Our Central-West Orana project is currently seeking a dedicated Senior Project Engineer – Civil to contribute to our Energy Hubs and Substations teams.
Responsibilities
Provides positive leadership to subcontractors, monitors and controls their performance, and ensures workmanship quality in accordance with specifications and procedures.
Drives commitment to quality at all levels of the organization.
Ensures appropriate personnel are in place with delegated responsibilities to integrate quality procedures.
Ensures outstanding defects are addressed as a priority.
Ensures implementation of the project quality plan.
Provides support and advice on planning, design suitability, materials, resources, components or systems, construction practices and problems to ensure project success and value for money.
Manages operational aspects of project delivery across all phases of the project management model.
Identifies the appropriate authorities for approvals and understands interrelations between authorities.
Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems.
Prepares project status reports and change orders.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience constructing outdoor air-insulated substations and substations at 220 kV or above
Approximately 7+ years’ experience in a civil construction/engineering environment on large-scale renewable energy and substation projects
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant tertiary education
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and strong problem-solving/analytical skills
Proven leadership abilities and regulatory compliance experience
Ability to plan and organize work schedules; strong HS&E knowledge and implementation
Cost control capability and clear verbal/written communication
High attention to detail and intermediate knowledge of MS Office
Senior Project Engineer roles start in our project office in Sydney CBD, with occasional site visits. Once the project is fully operational, the role will transition to a DIDO arrangement: 14 days onsite in camp-style accommodation and 7 days off site, on a roster-based schedule in the Central West Orana Region.
