This is an exciting senior leadership opportunity to help shape and strengthen Queensland's First Nations health workforce. As the Senior Director, Office of the Chief Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce Officer, you will provide strategic direction and operational leadership for the Office of the Chief Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce Officer, ensuring its work aligns with Queensland Health's priorities and commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
You will work closely with key government partners, the health sector, education providers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community‑controlled health organisations to drive innovative approaches to workforce growth, capability and sustainability. Your leadership will help deliver a culturally capable, skilled and responsive workforce that can meet the needs of First Nations communities across Queensland.
This role leads a team of four and reports directly to the Chief Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce Officer.
The successful person
You will be an experienced and strategic leader with a strong understanding of First Nations health and workforce policy. You bring the ability to navigate complex systems, work collaboratively across agencies and sectors, and translate strategic priorities into meaningful outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
Experience in First Nations health reform, workforce policy, program development or large‑scale implementation.
Strong capability in developing, shaping and presenting strategic policy advice for senior decision‑makers.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills, with experience delivering change or reform in complex environments.
Cultural capability grounded in respect, understanding and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations.
