Senior Director, Investment & Portfolio Strategy
Base pay range A$280,000 to A$300,000 per year.
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

About the Role
Reporting to the Executive General Manager โ Investment Portfolio & Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Development Victoria.
This executive leadership position is responsible for aligning commercial outcomes with organisational goals and government policy priorities.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, including First Peoples Partnerships, Planning, Sustainability, and Social & Economic Impactโembedding impact at the front end of projects to improve outcomes across the portfolio.
This is a standard executive contract with a maximum term of five years.
Responsibilities
Champion a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance through coaching and feedback.
Define and communicate strategic priorities that influence policy and practice across government and industry.
Lead strategic planning and evaluation to continuously improve organisational effectiveness.
Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and Delivery teams to manage key relationships and stakeholder engagement.
Conduct market intelligence and analysis to inform strategic decisions.
Assess and prioritise initiatives in collaboration with the delivery and enabling functions.
Monitor strategic alignment and impact to drive continuous improvement.
Represent Development Victoria in industry and government forums to promote strategic interests.
Lead engagement with stakeholders to ensure alignment with community and customer expectations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Tertiary degree or higher qualification in property, finance, construction, architecture, design, engineering, project management or related fields.
An outstanding record of achievement for strategy development for the timely management and delivery of major construction, infrastructure, or property development projects within complex and competing environments.
Skilled at operating within varied and complex markets, with a track record of achieving commercially viable outcomes in line with public value objectives.
Deep understanding of the Victorian policy environment, including planning systems, economic policy levers, and key government frameworks such as the Housing Statement.
Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and foster a high-performance, collaborative team culture.
Extensive experience building and maintaining complex stakeholder relationships across all levels of government, including senior executives, ministers, local councils, Traditional Owners, and private sector partners.
Experience engaging with peak bodies and maintaining influential networks across industry, government, and community sectors, with advanced negotiation, influencing, and consultation capabilities.
