Job Description

Senior SOE Engineer – Desktop Support WorkCover Queensland is entering an exciting new chapter with a renewed strategic focus and strong executive leadership shaping our 2030 Strategy. As part of an enterprise-wide transformation, we are looking for a Senior SOE Engineer to enhance our Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and endpoint management capabilities. The role reports to the Desktop Support Manager and is key to ensuring a secure, reliable, and high-quality technology experience for all employees.

In this senior technical role you will oversee core components of our Microsoft workplace ecosystem, including device configuration, policy administration, application packaging, deployment, and endpoint security. You will design and maintain technology solutions that are customer-driven and measurable, driving continuous improvement through proactive monitoring, remediation, and automation.

You will also support organisational capability across collaboration tools, communication platforms, end-user devices, remote working solutions, service portals, and application platforms. Your work ensures systems remain resilient, compliant, and aligned to evolving business and security needs.

What You’ll Bring

Advanced experience managing Microsoft 365, Entra and Intune, including SOE standards, configuration profiles and policy administration.

Proven capability in packaging and deploying applications via Intune (Win32/PSADT), including testing, pilot releases and production rollouts.

Strong knowledge of endpoint security baselines, update rings, patching compliance and device health reporting.

Experience leading critical incident resolution, coordinating cross-team responses and driving effective remediation.

Ability to develop technology roadmaps and support continuous improvement initiatives across workplace platforms.

Experience identifying and managing risks associated with workplace technologies.

Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology (postgraduate qualifications and relevant industry certifications highly regarded).

Minimum five years’ experience in a senior technology role within a 24/7 enterprise environment.

Strong communication skills and the ability to transfer knowledge, coach others, and support capability uplift.

A sound grasp of systems thinking, ensuring upstream and downstream impacts are considered when designing solutions.
