Western Renewables Link The Western Renewables Link is a proposed new 190 kilometre overhead high‑voltage electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from Bulgana in western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne’s north‑west. This critical infrastructure will unlock the renewable energy potential of western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and help deliver clean and affordable energy to all Victorians.

The Opportunity Genus is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join and support various projects across the business. This position will be based Port Melbourne.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Interpret and comprehend the client’s scope of work and technical specifications.

Lead engineering design and procurement works in accordance with technical specification and Australian/International Standards.

Provide the Project Team high level direction and support on technical queries.

Raise technical queries where required for approval prior to submission.

Prepare and review work packs that include MDR’s, ITP’s, drawings, ITR’s, JSA’s and SWMS.

Assist in the preparation of daily reports to Client.

Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel performance) and report regularly on project status.

Interpret Client needs and requirements and represent them in the field.

QA/QC inspections of foundation and lines construction.

Establish field test methods and methods for monitoring the quality of those tests.

Create frameworks to measure the Project metrics and data collection.

Preparation of the red‑line mark up on drawings and keep record for As‑Built drawings.

Propose engineering solutions for site modifications where required.

Analyse and review engineering deliverables to confirm they are in accordance with the standards set.

Essential Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical).

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Engineering or Project Management.

Current National Police Clearance.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Valid Driver’s Licence – "C" Class.

OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card.

Demonstrated good safety record and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety.

Ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining high level of accuracy.

Highly organised with the ability to prioritise, schedule and plan day‑to‑day work.

Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Ability to work independently using own initiative and within a cohesive team environment.

High level strategic and analytical thinking, numerical and problem‑solving skills.

Proactively focused on achieving results and reporting improvements.

Ability to resolve conflicts and develop effective solutions.

High level adaptability, judgement, and decision‑making skills.

Ability to assign responsibilities and mentor project teams.

Familiarity with Australian industry regulations, best practice, and performance standards.

Internet and PC proficiency with advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project/Primavera skills.

Ability to interpret Scope of Work documentation and design drawings and familiarisation with drafting software tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation or Solidworks.

Solid knowledge of industry rules, regulations, best business practices and performance standards.

Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining an organised and structured project.
