Director Governance, Risk and Enterprise Assurance

The Opportunity This newly created role presents an opportunity to lead the next phase of evolution for QLeave's Governance, Risk and Enterprise Assurance function. While strong foundations and a dedicated team are already in place, the focus of this role is on maturing capability, simplifying frameworks and embedding a more contemporary, business-partnering approach. The Director will review and refine existing governance, risk and assurance frameworks, enhance operating models and establish a strengthened enterprise assurance capability that supports organisational confidence and performance. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will shape organisational direction, partner closely with senior stakeholders and play a critical role in fostering an enabling and collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee QLeave's enterprise-wide risk management framework, embed a proactive risk culture and ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and standards.

Lead strategic and corporate planning, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements, government priorities and organisational performance expectations.

Drive integrated planning and collaboration across business areas, overseeing controlled documents, records management and customer complaint frameworks.

Oversee internal audit activity, strengthen governance effectiveness and mature a contemporary second-line enterprise assurance function.

Lead business continuity and crisis management frameworks to enhance organisational resilience.

Prepare high-quality insights, reports and briefings for the Executive Team, Board and Committees, while fostering capability and leadership within the Governance, Risk and Planning team.

In the first 12 months, the focus will be on maturing governance and assurance capability, streamlining processes and strengthening reporting to senior leaders and the Board.

About You You are a seasoned governance, risk and assurance leader with experience in complex or regulated environments, ideally within government or a statutory authority. You bring a contemporary and strategic understanding of governance and risk practices and are skilled at refining and right-sizing frameworks to ensure they are practical, proportionate and effective.

Credible and influential, you build trust with executives, Boards and senior stakeholders through clear communication and sound judgement. You thrive in environments where capability is developing and are motivated by the opportunity to mature systems, uplift team capability and embed sustainable, enabling practices.
