About the Role Reporting to the Superintendent Production Scheduling, you will play an integral role by:

Support and inform the delivery of mine plans and mine designs in the team’s scope (Weekly to 2Years) by completing analysis, identifying and framing the risks and opportunities, managing change and communicating the operating strategy without compromising on quality and sustainability, whilst maximising productivity

Utilise sound judgment in the application of inputs to effectively schedule production activities in alignment with the long term plans

Through peer reviews and validation of work, ensure all schedules and designs consider practicality, productivity and safety, and work packs are created and adequately communicated to mine operations

Understand the economic drivers that underpin both revenue and cost within the operation to ensure these are effectively leveraged through the mine schedule

Maintain that the mine schedule is well aligned with the supply chain demand (logistics capacity)

Ensure that mine schedules and mine development are well aligned with the long term direction whilst at the same time validate that longer term direction is appropriate to operational constraints

Drive continuous improvement both in efficiency and value of the process through work planning practices and procedures, as well as identifying opportunities for efficiencies in the operation

Identify and implement cultural and process improvement initiatives within the team/operation

Proactively identify, mitigate and control risks within the mine plan

Engage key stakeholders to gather plan inputs and communicate plan outcomes

The seniority associated with the role requires you to take the lead in embedding sound standards in collaboration with the team and the wider Production Scheduling team across sites and developing the broader team through mentoring and coaching.

About You You will bring a collaborative approach with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups to achieve positive outcomes. Your strong communication skills include a deep understanding of stakeholder needs and the ability to provide context and insight to leadership teams. You can clearly articulate risks and opportunities within plans to support informed decision-making and strategic direction.

Preferred experience includes engineering or technical roles within the resources industry, combined with strong leadership capabilities developed through hands‑on experience.

Drive continuous improvement in efficiency and value through enhanced work planning practices and identify operational efficiency opportunities

Support and guide Productivity By Design initiatives to deliver significant business savings through optimised pit and haulage designs

Identify and implement cultural and process improvement initiatives within the team and broader operation

Supervise and mentor a team of mine planning engineers, design engineers, and graduates

Proactively identify, mitigate, and control risks within the mine plan

Ensure effective stakeholder engagement for both gathering plan inputs and communicating plan outputs.

Location

This role is based at BHP’s Pilbara Operations on a FIFO 5/2/4/3 roster. These locations offer a unique opportunity to work within an operating mine, contribute to early-stage project development, and make a positive social impact through active closure and rehabilitation initiatives.
