Senior Lawyer (Administrative/Commercial Law)

Our client a high profile Commonwealth department is seeking an experienced Administrative/Commercial Lawyer to work on a variety of legal projects. The position will provide legal advice and assistance in the operation of legislative instruments and in administrative law and statutory interpretation.

The Responsibilities High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas and regulatory stakeholders.

The successful candidate will provide a variety of legal advice and have experience in:

regulatory environments;

commercial law (including applying the PGPA Act);

drafting regulatory agreements;

advising on corporate governance matters;

obligations under the Legal Services Directions.

The Requirements A current practising certificate (or the ability to obtain one) and experience advising on Commonwealth administrative law and statutory interpretation matters is essential.

A Baseline Security Clearance is also required.

A background advising in teams working on agricultural legislation such as the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth) and the Export Control Act 2020 (Cth) would be highly regarded.
