Role Overview
NHS Trust in the UK is looking for a Consultant in Stroke Medicine on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months. The Trust provides comprehensive acute care for a population of approximately 230,000 with 500 beds, 3,370 staff and an annual budget of £129 million. Located at Gorleston with community services in Newberry Centre, Kirkley Rise North and Lowestoft, the Trust is a University Hospital that trains the next generation of health professionals and maintains high performance in national and local targets.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consultant care to inpatients admitted to the stroke team and supervise junior doctors involved in their care.
Deliver thrombolysis assessment in working hours, including mechanical thrombectomy assessment where appropriate.
Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and post‑graduate activities of the hospital.
Maintain and develop team‑working practices involving other medical staff, nursing staff and allied health professionals.
Play a full part in teaching and audit activities of the department, including the Stroke Sentinel National Audit Programme (SSNAP).
Act as educational supervisor and engage in regular appraisal and assessment of all doctors in training or equivalent posts for whom the post holder has responsibility.
Assist with clinical governance and audit duties.
