$65 to $90 Dollars Per Hour
My client is a well‑established Australian engineering group known for delivering high‑quality process and packaging solutions across the FMCG sector. With ongoing growth and a strong pipeline of capital works, they are expanding their Melbourne‑based project engineering team.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of end‑to‑end delivery of capital projects- guiding initiatives from early feasibility and concept development through to installation, commissioning, and final handover. Working across multiple production and packaging environments, you will play a key role in shaping practical, safe, and robust engineering solutions that directly impact manufacturing performance. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role offering exposure to complex processing technologies, automation systems, packaging lines, and large‑scale equipment installations within fast‑moving manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver capital projects across processing, packaging and site services from concept through to commissioning.
Develop business cases, budgets, schedules, and technical scopes.
Coordinate internal engineering, maintenance, and operations stakeholders.
Oversee contractor activities, site works, and commissioning phases.
Ensure all project activities meet safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Drive fit‑for‑purpose design outcomes and cost‑effective engineering solutions.
Apply strong project controls, reporting, and adherence to established project frameworks.
Provide technical leadership across areas such as automation, materials handling, packaging systems and utilities.
Your Background
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Manufacturing or Process Engineering.
5+ years’ experience delivering capital projects within food, beverage, or FMCG environments.
Strong exposure to packaging systems, processing equipment, or automated manufacturing technologies.
Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands‑on site execution.
Solid contractor management capability and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience with technical standards, sanitary design, or regulated manufacturing environments highly regarded.
