Legal Counsel - Commercial Contracts

Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian professional services business

in their search for a new

Legal Counsel . They are looking to hire someone at the

2–5 PQE level , to be based in their

Melbourne or Sydney

office.

We’re seeking a proactive and commercially minded

generalist commercial lawyer

to join a small but dynamic

Legal, Risk & Compliance team . Reporting directly to the Chief Legal & Risk Officer, this role offers exposure to

a broad range of in-house legal matters across a national business , with real visibility and influence.

This role will give you the opportunity to act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, work on interesting and diverse projects across the organisation, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the business. You will be part of a

high-performing, collaborative team

with a strong focus on autonomy, development and work-life balance.

About the Role

Provide

commercial, pragmatic legal advice

to internal stakeholders across the business

Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of

commercial agreements

Support the Chief Legal & Risk Officer on

strategic projects

and initiatives

Build strong relationships with multiple business units and develop a deep understanding of their operations

Identify opportunities where the legal function can

add value and improve processes

Work across legal, risk and compliance matters in a

broad generalist capacity

What type of person will be successful?

Admitted as a lawyer in Australia with a current practising certificate

2+ years PQE

gained in private practice or in-house

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to deliver

practical, business-focused advice

Proactive self-starter who can manage multiple matters autonomously

Comfortable working in a

fast-paced environment

with competing priorities

Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders
