About the role The SATC is offering a rare opportunity for a generalist Senior Legal Counsel to work on some of the most exciting and high-profile work on offer in South Australia.

Reporting to the General Counsel & Director, Procurement, we are excited to offer the opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to work on:

Destination development (cruise, aviation and access)

Key marketing activity and campaigns with domestic and international reach

Major events in South Australia:

Managed Events - Santos Tour Down Under, National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant and Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond.

Major Sponsored Events – LIV Golf Adelaide and AFL Gather Round.

The Legal unit at SATC sits within the Corporate Services team and services the entire agency.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide range SATC’s contracts in consultation with other SATC staff members including Cooperative Marketing, Sponsorship, Goods and Services, Data Share, Confidentiality, Software-related agreements, and IP licensing.

Provision of timely strategic legal advice, advising on legal and commercial risks and working with business units to identify practical solutions.

Create legal frameworks and negotiating strategies for complex agreements.

Collaborate with the business to address legal issues and risks proactively.

Handle and resolve disputes and complaints.

Advise on and ensure business compliance with laws including data and privacy and Australian Consumer Law.

Monitor legal and regulatory changes to ensure delivery of accurate and up-to-date legal advice.

Build out legal capability and acumen in the business.

Continuous development, review and adjustment of contractual template suite for use by SATC staff which support recurring arrangements and self-service.

Utilising contract management systems and establish monitoring regimes to assist with contract management.

The Ideal Candidate:

6 years + post qualification experience (including in-house experience).

Current unrestricted South Australian legal practicing certificate (or ability to obtain one).

Experienced in the sport, events, tourism and/or marketing industries (highly regarded).

A trusted business partner that delivers commercially focused, pragmatic, and tailored legal solutions.
