AgForce is a peak organisation representing Queensland's rural producers, existing to ensure the long-term growth, viability, competitiveness, and profitability of the broadacre industries including cattle, grain, cane, sheep and wool in our state.
Their members manage over 51,580,534 hectares, representing 35% of all agricultural land in Queensland and 30% of mainland Queensland. AgForce is a not‑for‑profit organisation with over 5,500 members, formed to provide a single, united voice for broadacre producers.
Head of Research & Education – Key Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Research & Education is responsible for implementing effective research and education programmes that deliver on organisational objectives for broader sector outcomes.
The role encompasses governance and strategic oversight of the AgForce asset portfolio, full management accountability for the Belmont Station research site, and acts as a trusted advisor to the CEO and ELT.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Research & Education team.
Oversee the governance and strategic direction of AgForce's asset portfolio.
Provide full management responsibility for the Belmont Station research site.
Act as an enterprise‑wide leader, guiding the achievement of overarching organisational goals.
Design and deliver effective education and training programmes for rural producers and partners.
Identify and secure alternate revenue opportunities for research and education.
Lead grant application processes, milestones reporting, and acquisition of funding opportunities.
Qualifications
Deep experience in the Australian rural, VET and university sectors.
Strong background in designing and delivering education and training programmes.
Advanced project management skills with a track record of successful grant applications and funding acquisition.
Strategic thinking and the ability to provide actionable guidance to senior leadership.
