Strategic Business Development Manager
– Major Infrastructure Projects
Drive tier‑one projects across renewables, transport, mining, and major infrastructure.
Our large complex national construction materials business supplies the projects that shape cities and communities all over Australia. As they continue to grow their major projects footprint, they’re seeking a high‑calibre Business Development Manager to own and grow a significant pipeline of work across the region.
If you thrive on complex major pursuits, executive client engagement and coordinating winning complex bids, this role puts you at the centre of some of the country’s most high‑profile projects.
The opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of Business Development Manager – Major Projects, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth by proactively identifying, shaping, and securing major project opportunities across your region.
You will:
Lead early engagement with Tier 1 and Tier 2 clients on upcoming tenders and RFQs.
Build on strong existing relationships with major contractors and project stakeholders.
Coordinate multi‑product tender submissions in partnership with estimating, operations, and sales.
Champion the utilisation of both fixed and mobile assets across large, complex projects.
Become the go‑to person for major projects in your region – internally and in the market.
You’ll step into an environment with active bid activity and solid client relationships to build on.
The projects you’ll work on
You’ll focus on large‑scale, high‑impact projects typically:
Project values from $50 million into the hundreds – complex long sales cycle
Wind farms and solar farms.
Major road and rail projects.
Mining and resources developments.
Renewable energy and broader infrastructure programs.
This is a chance to align your career with the shift towards renewables and nation‑building transport and infrastructure.
About you:
You are a strategic business development professional who enjoys owning the full pursuit lifecycle – from early positioning through to contract award and beyond.
What you will bring:
Experience in business development, key account management or major projects within construction materials, infrastructure, resources, or a closely related sector.
Proven success working with Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 contractors and major project stakeholders.
Strong exposure to tendering and RFQ processes, ideally with high tender volumes and multi‑product offerings.
Commercial acumen – you understand margin, risk, logistics and operational realities, not just top‑line revenue.
The ability to coordinate and influence cross‑functional teams (estimating, operations, sales, and senior executives).
Discipline around CRM, pipeline management and follow‑up.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable representing the business with senior client stakeholders.
You enjoy operating in a fast‑paced, bid‑heavy environment where structure, persistence, and relationship strength all matter.
