Santé Recruitment is presenting an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join a leading specialist forensic mental health service in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 2026. This is a permanent, full-time senior medical leadership role offering an outstanding remuneration package of AUD $350,000 – $500,000 per annum plus relocation support.
The position is open to international specialists and includes visa sponsorship pathways (including subclass 186, 482, and 485) and permanent residency support for eligible candidates. About the Role
You will join a highly specialised forensic mental health service delivering care across high-security inpatient units, secure rehabilitation services, extended treatment programs, prison-based mental health services, and statewide services for individuals with intellectual disability. The role carries senior clinical and governance responsibility, with a strong focus on complex assessment, treatment, and risk management in secure environments.
You will work within a 40-hour work week structure designed to support sustainable performance and genuine work–life balance, while also contributing to service development, workforce training, and long-term system improvement.

Responsibilities
Provide senior medical leadership within a high-security inpatient forensic mental health setting
Deliver expert psychiatric assessment, treatment planning, and complex risk management
Lead, support, and mentor a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure safe, coordinated care
Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development initiatives
Supervise and educate medical and clinical staff, supporting workforce capability building
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of care across services
Promote evidence-based, recovery-oriented practice within secure and forensic environments
Requirements
Specialist qualification in Psychiatry with eligibility for RANZCP Specialist Assessment
Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Demonstrated experience in forensic or complex mental health settings
Strong leadership, clinical governance, and multidisciplinary team management skills
Commitment to high-quality, ethical, and patient-centred care in secure environments
Willingness to relocate to Brisbane, Queensland
Eligibility for Australian employer-sponsored visa pathways (186 / 482 / 485)
