Job Description

Senior Employee Relations Partner

role at

Australia Post

Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity As a Senior Employee Relations Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping fair, consistent and commercially focused ER outcomes across a complex and diverse organisation. You’ll work alongside specialists who are lifting capability, modernising our approach to ER and IR, and supporting leaders with the confidence and tools to navigate challenging workplace issues. This is an opportunity to influence strategic decisions at scale and help foster a culture centred on trust, safety and doing what’s right.

What you’ll deliver with us You’ll take the lead on managing high-risk and complex employee relations matters from end to end. Success in the role looks like delivering timely, accurate and commercially grounded advice, resolving disputes in a way that meets our workplace relations obligations, and representing the organisation professionally in external tribunals. You’ll strengthen ER capability across the organisation, support major change initiatives, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, compliance and collaboration.

You’ll also

Lead the management of complex ER/IR cases, including matters involving substantial legal risks, sensitive issues and disputes likely to escape to tribunals.

Represent Australia Post in the Fair Work Commission, Human Rights Commission and other federal or state tribunals.

Manage the Whistleblower framework, including allocation of cases, reporting and case management in partnership with relevant stakeholders.

Support the development and implementation of ER/IR strategies, policies and major change programs, ensuring risks are identified and effectively managed.

About you You’re a trusted advisor who brings confidence and professionalism to complex and sensitive situations. You build strong relationships quickly, navigate ambiguity with sound judgement, and balance commercial outcomes with fairness and integrity.

You’ll also need

Significant experience in operational HR or Employee Relations within a commercially focused organisation, including managing complex ER/IR cases, disputes, investigations and tribunal advocacy.

Strong capability interpreting and applying HR policies, industrial instruments and employment legislation, with proven experience engaging constructively with union representatives.

Degree‑qualified in Law, with a minimum of six years’ experience in employment and industrial law, and extensive knowledge of the Fair Work Act, discrimination legislation and the broader IR framework.

Demonstrated analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret data and insights to support risk‑based decision making and provide timely, commercially sound advice.

How we’ll deliver for you
