About the role As our new Senior Legal Counsel, Investments, you’ll be part of the Legal team, reporting to the General Counsel. Your mission? To manage the Investments legal function, providing high level internal legal advice and support on operational, governance and compliance matters for the Investments team and Fund.

In this role you will:

Build and lead a strong investments legal function.

Provide expert legal and strategic advice and support to the Investments team, including negotiation of agreements, legal due diligence, legal implementation of acquisition and divestment decisions, and supporting the investment internalisation program.

Engage and partner with key internal stakeholders proactively to provide a significant contribution to achieving the delivery of organisational goals, including leading the legal inputs to relevant frameworks, negotiations, driving the resolution of issues and the formulation of legal solutions in response to complex problems.

Participate in developing and implementing Legal strategic objectives and ensuring that these are integrated with the broader Fund strategy.

Advise on legal change management aspects of legislative and regulatory change impacting the Investments team.

Provide mentorship and guidance to other staff within the Legal Unit.

Maintain up to date knowledge of contract law, superannuation law and financial services law changes.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

A current practising certificate for the relevant jurisdiction in which advice is provided

Substantial experience working as an investments lawyer in the financial services or superannuation industry

Experience leading a team or function

Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders from a range of experience levels

Demonstrated experience in delivering business relevant and timely legal advice through quality engagement with stakeholders

Proven ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality in a diplomatic manner with the ability to lead and influence others

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced team environment

Proven high ethical standards and integrity
