The Role As the Theatre Head Technical Operator โ€“ Lighting, you will assist the Theatre Technical Manager with coordinating in-house lighting resources, the BOH lighting team, technical requirements for shows and rostering. You will act as a senior point of contact for the Theatre lighting team. The position will be involved in recruitment of staff as well as maintaining records, training, assets and documentation throughout the Theatre. You will be responsible for consistently delivering a high quality of service and ensuring legal compliance and risk management are maintained in all Theatre back of house operations.

Responsibilities The Theatre Head Technical Operator โ€“ Lighting will:

Coordinate in-house lighting resources and the BOH lighting team

Manage technical requirements for shows and rostering

Act as a senior point of contact for the Theatre lighting team

Involve in recruitment of staff and maintain records, training, assets and documentation

Deliver high quality service and ensure legal compliance and risk management in all Theatre back of house operations

To be successful, youโ€™ll have

Minimum 5 years senior technical lighting experience with emphasis on Theatre Stage Productions

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders

1 year experience in administrative functions including rostering, register creation/maintenance

Strong computer skills including high proficiency in Excel

Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot and identify and implement appropriate solutions

Demonstrate staff supervision skills including recruitment selection, induction, training and performance management

Knowledge and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, and Ethical practice

Organisational ability including time management, task prioritisation and resource scheduling

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Ability to work in a team environment

Additional Information

Working at Heights certificate, and White Card

EWP License

Rigging qualifications (advantageous)

Preparedness to work outside of normal work business hours

Experience in the use of CAD and/or Vectorworks (advantageous)

Tertiary qualification in specialised field (Lighting)/Technical Theatre or similar
