Associate or Principal-level Geo-Environmental Engineer Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Job Description We’re expanding our Geo-Environmental Engineering team and are looking for a Senior Associate or Principal-level Engineer to join our Brisbane office. Alternatively, the role may be based in our Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast office. This hybrid role offers flexibility and the chance to lead a talented technical team, while building strong client relationships across Australia. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering projects in civil infrastructure, waste, water, and mining sectors.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver projects focused on waste management, including landfill design, engineered containment systems, geosynthetic applications, and resource recovery solutions.

Design and manage water infrastructure projects such as dam engineering, earth structures, repair works, and wastewater management ponds.

Plan and oversee mining projects, including tailings management facilities and complex liner systems.

Develop ground engineering solutions, including slope stabilization and rehabilitation.

Integrate waste management into broader infrastructure projects to develop cutting‑edge geo‑environmental solutions.

Prepare and review technical documentation for waste‑related projects across planning, design, and execution phases.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the waste and geo‑environmental sectors, supporting project delivery and business development.

Ensure technical excellence in waste and geo‑environmental engineering, overseeing quality and risk management.

Manage projects to deliver desired outcomes for key clients, focusing on repeat business.

Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Contribute to operational management by supporting strategies that drive business growth in waste and environmental services.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering, supported by a minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience.

Extensive experience delivering high‑quality, detailed design documentation.

Deep technical expertise in waste management, including landfill design, leachate collection and treatment systems, geosynthetics, capping systems, and resource recovery infrastructure.

Ability to assess and design for subsurface environmental risks, embankments, complex earthworks, and surface water management systems.

Proficiency in using design software and tools to produce accurate, constructible, and compliant engineering designs.

Excellent communication skills, clearly conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring integration of design elements across disciplines.

A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and technical excellence.

Proven or developing mentoring skills for junior to senior engineers, with sound decision‑making and project delivery skills.
