Senior Lawyer | Public Liability

An exciting and rare opportunity is now available in our Sunshine or Melbourne Offices. We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer (7+PAE) to join our public liability team. This role will suit a proactive, passionate and results driven Lawyer who specialises in public liability, or has experience in another area within the personal injury space, or a mixed practice, and wishes to specialise in public liability. You will be working with one of our most experienced and respected practice groups nationally which will see you managing your own files. We offer and encourage flexible work. Slater & Gordon has the largest national specialised public liability practice in Australia. The team in Victoria has grown dramatically over the past few years, and is considered the pre-eminent public liability team in Victoria. The team handles all sorts of public liability claims, involving significant and often catastrophic injuries sustained due to: slips and trips on public or private property; unsafe premises (such as balconies, stairs or other structural issues); dog or animal attacks; physical assaults; defective products (or services); sporting accidents (including recreational and adventure activities); injuries on private property including rental properties or health and fitness injuries (such as massage or personal training). In addition to taking on a wide range of challenging legal matters, this role will also see you manage and strengthen existing community relationships along with initiating and building new networks. You will also be mentoring and guiding more junior staff in the practice group. Experience in both plaintiff and defendant based roles is highly regarded. Your responsibilities will include: Managing a practice of pure public liability files Continually exploring new opportunities for your practice and developing new business opportunities Maintaining strong client relationships Exceptional negotiation skills and an ability to communicate effectively Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously What will you bring?

Previous experience and a passion for Public Liability or in a similar personal injury role (defendant firm experience included) A calm and easy-going nature Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team Ability to handle sensitive issues and challenging clients Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management
