About the Unit
Central and Northern Adelaide Renal Transplantation Service (CNARTS) is based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and performs kidney, pancreas, and islet transplants for South Australia and the Northern Territory. CNARTS is the largest renal unit in South Australia and one of the largest in the country. The unit offers extensive outreach, research, teaching and a strong culture of clinical excellence.
About the Role
Renal Transplant Surgeon to lead high‑quality transplant care across a complex tertiary network. The role includes participation in transplant surgical on‑call roster, retrieval roster, dialysis access surgery, surgical audit and governance, and clinical research. A hybrid role between CNARTS and non‑transplant surgical services is available, with potential for private practice.
Duties
Contribute to advanced renal transplant and dialysis access care
Outreach to Northern Territory for transplant assessments
Participation in organ donation and retrieval service
Pancreas transplantation skills desired but not essential
Opportunity to contribute to general or other subspecialty surgical programs
Manage transplant patients and clinical decision making
Supervise and support junior doctors and trainees
Drive teaching, research, audit and protocol design
Partner with teams to deliver safe, efficient care
About You
Specialist transplant qualifications with renal transplant expertise
Specialist registration eligible with the Medical Board of South Australia
Advanced clinical skills in renal transplant and vascular access
Proven leadership in multidisciplinary teams and clinical teaching
Active involvement in research, audit and quality improvement
