Silentium Defence is delivering world-leading passive radar and advanced sensing technology to support Defence, national security, and space domain awareness. As we scale our engineering capability, we're expanding the Applications & Services Team — the software backbone that powers our operations.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer who thrives in complexity, simplifies through architecture, and builds reliable internal systems that matter.
This role is a key technical leader responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the internal applications, integrations, and platform services that support research, trials, production, and delivery operations across Silentium.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, set engineering standards, mentor others, and ensure our software foundations are scalable, maintainable, and operationally ready.
What You’ll Do
Architect systems, data flows, and integration patterns
Improve code quality, documentation, testing, and operational readiness across the stack
Manage reliability, observability, and system support more proactively via tooling and automation
Collaborate with Radar, Research, Production, Trials & Business teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
Mentor other engineers, improving capability and standards across the organisation
Identify and mitigate technical risks early, especially legacy, unclear requirements, and cross-team dependencies
Success Looks Like
Deliver stable, documented, and operationally ready systems
Reduce friction and support load through tooling, automation, and better design
Raise engineering standards via mentoring and technical leadership
Support quarterly objectives and strategic initiatives (OKRs, NTOs, production)
What You Bring
Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or similar
5+ years’ professional software engineering experience
Strong architectural thinking and systems design abilityt
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to break complexity into simple, reliable, maintainable solutions
Ownership mindset and commitment to reliable, well-tested software
Leadership qualities and willingness to mentor and unblock others
