Senior Medical Officer (Psychiatry) Child Mental Health Inpatient Unit

This position will provide specialist consultant child and adolescent psychiatry service to the 9-bed statewide Child Mental Health Inpatient Unit (CMHIU). The CMHIU provides specialist mental health assessment and treatment within an acute inpatient setting for children up to 13 years of age who are experiencing severe and/or complex mental health difficulties. You will be expected to have the knowledge and skills to safely provide a broad range of high level professional and expert clinical psychiatric services to optimise model of care for the assessment and treatment of children and their families across CHQ HHS CYMHS.

About The Team The 9 bed Child Mental Health Inpatient Unit (CMHIU) provides specialist statewide mental health assessment and treatment within an inpatient setting for young people aged from birth to 13 years old who are experiencing severe and/or complex mental health difficulties. There are facilities available for parents to stay with younger children during their admission. The CMHUI also has one family accommodation suite for planned family-based admissions.

About The Role In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

Provide training and support to multi-disciplinary staff

Provide expert/specialised education, consultation, and training for the multidisciplinary teams

Assist in leading quality activities and/or research to improve mental health clinical practice within IUIH and within CHQ CYMHS

Training and supervision to medical students and psychiatric registrars across CHQ CYMHS, as delegated by the Medical Director CYMHS

Developing a positive culture within IUIH which encourages and recognises high performance, builds leadership capabilities and supports staff to maximise their health and wellbeing.
