The opportunity:
We have an opportunity available for a Head of Risk Framework, Governance & Enablement to join our Enterprise Risk Team at AIA. Within this role you will provide strategic leadership and oversight in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the integrated risk management framework, governance structures, and reporting mechanisms for Enterprise Risk.
The role has responsibility to ensure the organisation effectively identifies, assesses and mitigates risks, while adhering to regulatory requirements through design and maintenance of a documented holistic Risk Management Framework with supported governance processes and effective reporting.
This is a permanent opportunity based in our Sydney or Melbourne office.
To do this successfully you will:
Develop, maintain and continuously improve the organisation’s risk management framework (including RMS and RAS), ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Facilitate definition of entity key risk appetite, tolerances, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and establish clear guidelines for risk identification, assessment, and ongoing mitigation management.
Collaborate with the CRO and GM Risk on a range of initiatives that require a holistic, enterprise‑wide risk perspective, such as conducting risk assessments of AIA’s Strategic Plan.
Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Line 2 risk management secretariats, including coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, supporting chairpersons, and distributing relevant materials and information for each internal governance committee.
Lead the preparation of committee papers for presentation to senior management (e.g. ERMC, FRC, Boards) and any necessary papers, such as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) report, required for the board of directors, summarising key risk exposures, mitigation strategies, and relevant metrics.
Design, implement and maintain automated Risk Management reporting, leveraging Risk systems data that supports delivery of reporting across Business Unit Risk Forum’s (BURF) and governance committees.
Successful applications will demonstrate:
Relevant experience within the Australian financial services industry.
Extensive practical experience with risk management frameworks and operational risk disciplines within the Australian financial services industry.
Extensive stakeholder management experience.
Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies.
In‑depth knowledge of the regulatory environment as well as key legislation impacting on business activities in the financial services sector.
A deep understanding of operational processes, business complexities and interdependencies.
