Head of Payroll

Head of Payroll (Permanent) - Growth-Focused Business We are recruiting for a Head of Payroll to lead an established division during a period of significant growth. This permanent role offers the chance to work within a highly successful, collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the payroll strategy, with an emphasis on

system governance, robust compliance and team development .

The role is based in Sydney South (convenient location to public transport/ employee parking provided) and features hybrid work flexibility. Competitive salary package offered.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and own the payroll strategy, focusing on long-term efficiency and risk mitigation in a complex, multi-frequency environment.

Drive System Integration and Change:

Strategically oversee and manage the integration of key platforms.

Complex Compliance:

Act as the final authority on compliance, ensuring meticulous adherence to

industry related awards

and other EBA's.

Executive Partnership:

Partner directly with senior leaders across the business to provide strategic payroll data and governance oversight.

Team Management:

Manage and mentor a team of payroll professionals, moving them from a transactional focus to a strategic and analytical function.

About You

Experience:

Proven experience managing high volume payrolls across multiple frequencies

Leadership:

Experience leading successful and efficient payroll teams

Mindset:

A highly effective problem-solver who can maintain composure and strategic focus while managing daily processing ambiguities.

Technical Skills:

Deep expertise in systems architecture, data integrity, and UAT/testing related to payroll systems is preferred.

Award knowledge:

Strong background in compliance, audit, and legislative interpretation.
