Job Description

Head of Finance Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is laying the foundations for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

Base Pay Range A$220,000.00/yr - A$260,000.00/yr inclusive of 12.75% superannuation. Full‑time maximum‑term role for 6 years/months (with possibility of extension).

About the Role The Head of Finance will provide leadership and management of the Authority’s finance and procurement functions, engaging with internal and external stakeholders including relevant agencies within the Queensland and Australian Governments. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer and Executive General Manager Corporate Services, the Head of Finance will develop and execute the financial strategy and plan, ensuring accurate, timely financial and management reporting and compliance.

The role includes leading the procurement function aligned with Queensland Procurement Policy, driving finance‑related projects and strategies, and providing strategic analysis and management advice to the GIICA Executive Leadership Team and the Board.

Leadership of the finance team across Financial Accounting and Reporting, Capital Reporting, Business Partnering, Transactional Service and Procurement Teams is also required.

Responsibilities

Manage budget, forecasting and financial analysis; provide strategic analysis to the GIICA Executive Leadership Team and the Board.

Collaborate with the Chief Finance Officer and Executive General Manager Corporate Services on long‑term financial strategy.

Promote a culture of fiscal awareness, accountability and transparency.

Monitor cash flow and develop accurate forecasts.

Oversee external and internal financial & management accounting reporting (annual statutory financial statements, budgets, capital plans and forecasts).

Engage with State Departments and Treasury on financial matters (budget submissions and forecasts).

Manage relationship with external and internal auditors.

Lead the Procurement function ensuring commercial support and compliance with the State Procurement Policy.

Support contract management through timely reporting and analysis of expenditure and commitments.

Identify and communicate financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Build a workplace that empowers staff to perform at their full potential.

Represent the Authority on relevant forums and committees across government and third parties.

About You

Relevant qualification in accounting, commerce or related discipline.

Membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA Australia).

Extensive finance leadership experience in a complex organisation; government experience, especially with a Queensland Government statutory authority, is highly regarded.

Proactive, solution‑focused approach to building, leading and motivating a finance function during change.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to build positive working relationships within the Authority and across State Government.

Additional Information

A probationary period of six months will apply.
