Job Description
Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria to safeguard its integrity.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a hands on Cyber Security Engineer to join our Digital Transformation & Technology team. Reporting to the Head of Platforms & Cyber Security, you’ll help maintain and uplift RVG’s cyber security posture across a hybrid cloud environment, with ownership across day-to-day security operations, incident response and vulnerability management, plus delivery of uplift initiatives.
What you’ll be doing
Own the effectiveness of security controls across cloud, on-prem and SaaS environments and drive remediation where needed.
Own vulnerability management: assessment, prioritisation, remediation tracking and validation.
Investigate and respond to security incidents, supporting containment, remediation and post‑incident improvement.
Improve monitoring, logging and alerting; tune detections and response playbooks to improve signal quality.
Embed security-by-design into BAU operations and delivery; provide security input into technical designs, changes and major deployments.
Contribute to cyber security policies, standards and procedures; support audit/assurance activities with evidence and documentation.
About you
Demonstrated experience in a cyber security/information security role in a medium to large organisation.
Hands‑on experience improving security controls across hybrid environments and responding to incidents and vulnerabilities.
Working knowledge of cloud and enterprise security concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365).
Familiarity with security monitoring/detection and data protection technologies.
Strong analytical skills, clear communication, and solid documentation/reporting capability.
After-hours / on-call
Participate in response to Priority 1 (P1) security incidents outside standard business hours when required.
Participate in an on‑call roster, as implemented and agreed upon, to support critical security incidents.
