Clinical Lead – High Intensity SDA Home (RN)
Ability Assist is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to step into a Clinical Lead role within a newly established High Intensity Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home located in St Albans Melbourne
This is a unique opportunity to join a newly opened residence supporting participants funded through NDIS and TAC, and to play a key role in shaping a clinically strong, well-governed service from the ground up.
About the Role
The Clinical Lead is responsible for overseeing the clinical and operational delivery of supports within a high-intensity SDA environment.
Participants supported within this home have complex physical support needs requiring structured clinical oversight alongside strong team leadership. The role combines clinical governance, staff leadership, and hands‑on involvement to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
You will lead and support a team of disability support workers while ensuring clinical practices, documentation, and service delivery meet best practice and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Providing clinical leadership within a high-intensity disability support setting
Supervising and mentoring a team of support workers
Oversight of complex care supports including PEG management, hoist transfers and full personal care
Ensuring compliance with NDIS and TAC clinical and documentation requirements
Supporting safe medication practices and clinical decision‑making
Maintaining strong governance, reporting and care oversight processes
Working collaboratively with allied health professionals, families and external stakeholders
Supporting the ongoing development and stability of a newly established home

About You
You are a confident and practical clinical leader who enjoys working in community-based healthcare and supporting teams delivering complex care.
You bring strong clinical judgement, leadership capability and a commitment to person-centred practice.
You will ideally have experience working with participants requiring high-intensity supports within disability, rehabilitation, community nursing or similar environments.
Skills & Experience
Experience leading or supervising multidisciplinary or support teams
Experience supporting people with complex physical disability
Demonstrated experience with high-intensity supports such as: PEG feeding and medication administration, manual handling and hoist transfers, complex personal care, behaviours of concern within therapeutic frameworks
Strong understanding of NDIS and/or TAC environments
Excellent documentation, communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to provide calm clinical leadership in complex situations
Requirements
Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse
Full Victorian Driver’s Licence
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Current First Aid and CPR
Medication Administration competency
