Senior Cyber Security Engineer

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone’s experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day‑to‑day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services. Digital and Government Services is responsible for driving digital transformation across government, making it easier for business, communities and citizens to connect with government. Digital and Government Services guides and supports the public service to work in more collaborative and agile ways to better serve the people of Victoria.

About The Role The role sits within the Cyber Services team, which supports the delivery and improvement of some of the key cyber security services across the Whole of Victorian Government (WoVG). As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you will work closely with the Cyber Services Manager to support day‑to‑day delivery, uplift initiatives, and stakeholder engagement for core cyber services.

Key Accountabilities

Support the effective delivery and continuous improvement of cyber security services such as vulnerability management and attack surface management ensuring services align with agreed standards and operational priorities.

Provide technical coordination and oversight for assigned service areas, including triaging service requests, contributing to uplift initiatives, and supporting implementation of enhancements in collaboration with internal teams and vendors.

Collaborate with key stakeholders across government to support delivery outcomes, maintain strong relationships, and ensure service feedback and user needs are captured and addressed in line with divisional goals.

Key Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience in delivering and supporting cyber security services such as vulnerability management, SOAR, or threat monitoring in a complex environment.

Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders across government and vendor organisations.

The ability to successfully acquire and maintain a NV1 level security clearance in Australia (requires Australian citizenship).
