Full Time – Fixed term (5 years) - Senior Executive Officer

This executive role offers the opportunity to shape long-term asset performance, capital investment and financial sustainability outcomes that directly support service delivery across the Murrindindi Shire.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and forming part of the Executive Management Team, you will play a key role in ensuring Council’s infrastructure, financial and environmental sustainability programs and capital works are aligned with long-term financial planning and community priorities.

Your Role:
As Director Sustainability & Assets, you will lead Council’s asset, infrastructure and environmental functions, ensuring the delivery of high-performing core services while strengthening long-term planning, asset maturity and financial alignment.
You will oversee:
Infrastructure operations, including plant and fleet management
Roads, bridges, drainage and transport infrastructure
Capital works and renewal programs
Asset management systems and long-term renewal planning
Resource recovery and circular economy services
Environmental management, climate adaptation and sustainability programs
Emergency management response and recovery functions
This role requires a leader who can integrate asset management, capital investment and long-term financial sustainability frameworks, while providing clear, evidence‑based strategic advice to the CEO and Council.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the delivery of infrastructure operations, maintenance and capital works programs.
Strengthen asset management maturity, lifecycle planning and renewal planning.
Align capital investment decisions with Council’s Financial Plan and asset management frameworks.
Provide strategic advice to Council on infrastructure, sustainability and financial implications of major initiatives.
Foster strong internal collaboration and productive external stakeholder relationships.
Guide Council’s participation in regional sustainability partnerships, including the Goulburn Murray Climate Alliance.
What you will bring
Significant senior leadership experience within local government or a similarly regulated, community-accountable organisation.
Demonstrated experience leading asset, infrastructure or operational portfolios, including capital works and renewal programs.
Strong financial and commercial capability, including experience managing substantial budgets, long‑term investment programs and complex funding arrangements.
Proven ability to integrate asset planning with long‑term financial sustainability and risk considerations.
Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in civil, construction, environmental or infrastructure engineering, business or finance, with engineering or professional registration highly regarded.
