Senior Control Systems Engineer

Hydra Search are seeking a Control Systems Engineer with experience in the Water industry to join an Engineering Consultancy in the Perth office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, with a strong focus on Siemens PLCs and PCS7 systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, configure, and maintain control systems for water and wastewater treatment processes

Program, test, and commission Siemens PLC systems (including S7 family)

Configure, engineer, and support Siemens PCS7 DCS

Develop and maintain functional design specifications, control philosophies, and software documentation

Support site installation, commissioning, and start-up activities

Diagnose and resolve control system faults and performance issues

Ensure systems comply with industry standards, client specifications, and safety regulations

Provide ongoing operational support and system upgrades for existing installations

Required Experience & Skills:

Ideally 3+ years’ experience as a Control Systems Engineer within the water or wastewater industry

Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens PLCs (S7-300/400/1200/1500 as applicable)

Proven experience with Siemens PCS7 engineering, configuration, and commissioningSolid understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes

Experience with ClearSCADA/GeoSCADA

Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control documentation

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, Automation, or Systems Engineering
