Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) | Premium Australian Seafood
Murray Cod Australia ( https://aquna.com/ ) is entering its next phase of growth.
As one of Australia’s leading producers of premium, sustainably farmed Murray Cod, the Company has built a strong foundation in aquaculture, product quality and brand positioning under the AQUNA brand. With increasing production capacity and rising demand for high-quality, traceable protein, the opportunity now is to scale commercially -both domestically and internationally.
We are seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead this next chapter. The role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney with a clear preference given to Melbourne
The Mandate
This is an executive leadership role with a clear and immediate focus to:
Accelerate domestic sales and market penetration
Secure and grow Tier 1 customer relationships
Build a disciplined, high-value export platform over time
You will own and execute the full commercial strategy across retail, foodservice, wholesale and international markets, aligned to production capability.
What You’ll Lead
Domestic Sales Growth
Develop and execute a national sales strategy to drive volume, revenue and margin across supermarket, foodservice, wholesale and direct channels.
Major Account Development
Secure and grow key customer segments including:
National grocery chains (e.g. Coles, Woolworths)
Hospitality groups and institutional buyers
Seafood wholesalers and independent distributors
Lead all commercial negotiations across pricing, supply agreements, promotional programs and long-term contracts, with a focus on sustainable account growth.
Distribution Expansion
Build and optimise a national distribution footprint, strengthening metro and regional coverage through high-performing partners and effective channel strategy.
International Market Development
Establish a targeted export strategy focused on high-value markets for premium Australian seafood, building long-term distributor and importer relationships.
Commercial Performance & Strategy
Own pricing, forecasting and revenue optimisation, using market insights to refine product mix, packaging and channel positioning.
Leadership & Alignment
Build and lead a high-performing national sales and marketing team, aligning closely with operations, supply chain, marketing and finance to ensure delivery against demand.
Who This Role Is For
A proven commercial leader with deep experience in food, FMCG or protein categories in Australia.
You likely bring:
Strong existing relationships across grocery, foodservice (incl. PFD/Bidfood) and wholesale distribution channels
A track record of winning and growing major enterprise accounts
Experience leading national sales teams
Commercial strength across pricing, negotiation and margin delivery
Exposure to export or international market development
A pragmatic, execution-focused leadership style
